Rachel and Jaedon’s intimate backyard wedding in September was a celebration of love that showcased the beauty of simplicity. The couple opted for a small gathering of their closest family and friends, and Rachel’s parent’s backyard served as the perfect setting for their special day. With the greenery and natural elements surrounding them, Rachel and Jaedon exchanged their vows in a ceremony that was both personal and romantic. The focus was on creating a relaxed and cozy atmosphere that reflected the couple’s personalities, and the result was a charming and unforgettable wedding cherished by all who attended.
MY BACKSTORY WITH RACHEL
Rachel is a big part of why I do photography. I met her in college at WSU Tri-Cities. She was one of the first to introduce me to a camera, as we were in the same digital technology course. She had been doing photography for four years, and I was always in awe of her work. After graduating, my interest in photography grew, and Rachel trusted me enough to second shoot some summer weddings with her. Since then, I’ve had the honor of second shooting for many of her weddings, and she will second shoot for me. We’ve become good friends over the years, and I was honored that she asked me to photograph her wedding in September 2021.
THE KANYID’S WEDDING IN SEPTEMBER
The night before the wedding, the beautiful weather we had been having took a sudden turn for the worst, and it was raining. We were scrambling last minute to find some canopies in case the rain carried over to the next day. Luckily, canopies were found, and it was just slightly drizzling the day of. They had a late morning/early afternoon wedding because they wanted to offer brunch- that was such a fun idea. Rachel made all the bouquets with faux flowers.
The bridal party walked down the aisle to “Concerning the Hobbits” from Lord of the Rings, and Rachel walked down to “Romantic Flight” from How to Train Your Dragon. This fits them perfectly. Jaedon’s reaction to seeing Rachel walk down the aisle was so sweet- he even had a tissue for his tears. Rachel’s sister sang for the first dance. We wrapped up the evening with some adorable shots of them with Jaedon’s beloved red truck. I loved their wedding, and it’s a good reminder of how simplicity can be just as special!
SWEET WORDS FROM RACHEL AND JAEDON
“Josie is a phenomenal, amazing person and photographer! I have seen and experienced her work for several years and I KNEW she would be my wedding photographer someday! That day came and the experience was more wonderful than I could have asked for! ❤️”
